The Crown Heights Riot

One of the more interesting facts about life in Crown Heights, Brooklyn is a small, largely as a large population of Caribbean and African descent and a minority of Hasidic Jews were in the same neighborhood, living almost side by side and not interact. This eventually started rioting and violence around the cultural and racial tensions between Hasidic JewsCommunity and the African and Caribbean American communities.




The agitation, which included three days of violence, looting, damage to many Jewish homes, ultimately leading to political and local leaders must work harder to racial reconciliation in the district. The Crown Heights Riot was a great influence on the election of the mayor of New York in 1993. Mayor David Dinkins was in touch with the Crown Heights riots, saying that it has used the police enough to criticize and act quicklyenough.
